shredder or hammerThe myth is you can take a hammer and destroy your hard drive. While attacking your hard drive may release some stress you have it really does not destroy your data. It may render your hard drive inoperable but information is still on the undamaged platters. A lot of companies want to save money and have their IT professional “destroy” the drive. The above picture was hit with a hammer 5 times (We must note the hard drive did jump up a few times. Do not try this at home.). As you can notice there was no damage to the platters. The shredded hard drive as you can see is completely destroyed.¬†Which one will you choose for your company?
